How to support Kenzie’s Gift

Help us support young Kiwis and their whānau going through some of life’s toughest times: serious illness or grief.

Whether you’re an individual, school or work team looking for fundraising ideas or would like to become a regular donor, you’ll find everything you need here. Our supporters are true heroes, spreading the word about Kenzie’s Gift and raising vital funds to help us reach more tamariki / children and their whānau who desperately need our help.

Support us

Why Kenzie's Gift?

It’s estimated 1 in 20 tamariki / children will experience a bereavement by the age of 16. The mental health services to support these grieving tamariki / children is sadly lacking. That’s why we’re on a mission to help these young Kiwis and their whānau affected by serious illness or grief.

By supporting us, you’re directly helping us provide 1-on-1 therapy with registered mental health professionals, serious illness and grief support kits and extensive online resources to those young Kiwis that need it most.

Where your donation goes

Serious illness and grief can feel overwhelming and isolating. Every dollar that’s raised or donated goes directly to helping young Kiwis and their whānau get the help they need, when they need it most.

  • $25 supports the development of our online resources.
  • $45 provides 1 printed grief kit.
  • $180 pays for a 1-on-1 therapy session.
  • $2,000 pays for 12 sessions with one of our therapists.

School fundraising

With our focus on helping young Kiwis aged 3 to 24 years old, fundraising at your kura / school is a lovely way to give back. Kura / school fundraising ideas include non-uniform days by koha / gold coin donation, bake sales, movie or quiz nights, discos and more.

We reckon the most super way for schools to fundraise is by turning a normal Rāmere / Friday into a Superhero Friday! Scroll down to read more about our Superhero Friday fundraising event, which is a unique, fun way to involve your kura / school in fundraising.

Corporate or workplace fundraising

Raising essential funds for Kenzie’s Gift is a great team-building opportunity. Tackle any type of fundraising challenge, from enjoying a shared breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or bake sale to taking on a thrilling adventure, like a sponsored skydive or sporting event.

As well as corporate partnerships being vital to the work we do, they’re great for your business too, helping you meet your CSR (corporate social responsibility) goals. Your organisation could consider making Kenzie’s Gift your charity of the year, setting up payroll giving, sponsoring us or more. Talk to our team for more ideas or to develop an inspiring tailor-made partnership.

The Winter Swim Challenge

Brace yourself, take a deep breath and jump into the cold water! Take on the Kenzie's Gift Winter Swim Challenge and you'll help us create a brighter future for Kiwi kids experiencing serious illness or grief.

Do it on your own or get your swimming buddies together as a team, then choose your challenge. Maybe you’ll take on a go big dip – a big hairy swimming challenge! Or you could become a daily dipper (swim every day of winter) or a weekend warrior (swim every weekend of winter).

The Winter Swim Challenge runs 1st June through to 31st August every year and combines the goodness of cold water swimming with bloody good fun – grab your crew, get wet together and enjoy some well-deserved post-swim coffees.
